you’re redecorating your bathroom, or maybe you’re just
replacing a broken piece of bathroom hardware… either way,
you here are some helpful hints to get you along your way.
If you do not have a towel rack in you bathroom, it is far past
time that you got one. A towel hanging from a nail is not nearly
as classy as a towel on a towel rack. First of all, you need to
decide how high up to put your towel rack. Remember that something
will be hanging from it – be sure to put up your towel rack
high enough that your towels do not hang onto the floor or toilet,
etc.
Use a carpenter’s level to make sure the towel rack will
be hung straight. If you don’t have one, measure from the
ceiling to the floor at each end and make sure that your distances
match up. Do not just eye it – if your towel rack is off-kilter,
it will bother you later. Look for the screw holes in the rack -
most racks require two screws for each side of the rack. If you
can't see the screws, it's because they're going through a wall
plate hidden under a cover plate; reveal the wall plate by loosening
a screw that's usually hidden on the underside of the cover plate.
Use a stud finder to find a wood stud in the wall to attach the
wall plate. If you can’t find a stud, be sure to use a sturdy
anchor like a hollow-wall anchor. (If you are attaching a towel
rack to your door, you want to use a hollow-wall anchor, as well).
Now that you’ve got a nice towel rack, you may want to get
a nice hand towel holder and toilet dispenser to match. Replacing
your bathroom cupboard handles can really add a much needed flair
to your bathroom, too. Bath shelves can really help get your bathroom
organized, also. You could really go out and replace your bathroom
fixtures, as well. Maybe you’ve also wanted a better shower
head – go out and get one. A new faucet can really had style
to a plain sink.
